Michal Michalak put up a triple-double as EWE Baskets Oldenburg blew out s.Oliver Wurzburg, 113-87, Friday evening.
Moving through his second season in the German league, the Polish guard dropped 15 points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists in just over 32 minutes. It was the first triple-double in easyCredit BBL after almost one year. Michalak spent the 2020-21 season at Syntainics MBC and has also displayed his talents in Spain with Casademont Zaragoza and Italy with Germani Brescia, apart from domestic stints including Anwil Wloclawek and Trefl Sopot.
Former NBA point guard Phil Pressey recorded a team-high 28 points. Rickey Paulding added 18 more points at the bottom end of his 15th season at Oldenburg. At 13-20, their side has stirred safely away from the relegation zone but with the Playoffs out of reach.
Elsewhere in Regular Season Round 33 coming up, Telekom Baskets Bonn prevailed, 85-74, against ratiopharm Ulm to improve its league-leading record to 26-7. Lithuanian forward Saulius Kulvietis went for 17 points and Justin Gorham had 16 points.
Alba Berlin ranks second behind a 24-6 W-L tally and FC Bayern Munich follows third with a 22-8 record. Fourth-placed MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg stands at 22-10 and Ulm fell to 20-11, behind Niners Chemnitz at 21-11.
