A Serbian duo led the charge for Bayern Munich at the start of the semifinal series against Telekom Baskets Bonn in the German League. Bayern secured an 80-68 road win and a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series.
Vladimir Lucic finished the game with 19 points and seven rebounds while Ognjen Jaramaz scored 18 and Nick Weiler-Babb 15 points (eight boards).
On the opposing team, Parker Jackson-Cartwright logged 14 points, nine assists, six rebounds while Javontae Hawkins had 13 points.
The game was close for the first 25 minutes but Bayern’s 18-5 and 14-0 runs in the third and the fourth quarter decided the winner. Bonn managed to recover from the first but not the second push by Bayern.
On Sunday, ALBA Berlin took a 2-0 lead in the semifinals series against MHP Riesen with a 100-76 victory at home.
Louis Olinde posted 24 points and 5 rebounds and Johannes Thiemann scored 22 points and 6 rebounds to lead Israel Gonzelez’s squad to an easy victory. The Berlin side is now one victory away from sweeping the series and advancing to the finals.
Oscar da Silva added 14 points to Bayern’s efforts and Maodo Lo contributed 10 points.
Game 3 of the series will be played Thursday (May 3, 20:00 local time) in Ludwigsburg.
