After two difficult games in the EuroLeague double week, Bayern Munich fell hard in the easyCredit BBL, as Riesen Ludwigsburg crushed the German vice-champions 96-68.
Yorman Polas Bartolo led the way for the winning side with 28 points and six rebounds for a PIR of 28.
Prentiss Hubb followed him with 20 points and seven assists, while Jhonathan Dunn added 15 and Jacob Patrick 11 points.
Cassius Winston was the top scorer of Andrea Trinchieris’s team with 21 points. Augustine Rubit followed with 16, while Nils Giffey added 10 points.
Already in the first quarter, it was clear Bayern was in trouble. The hosts grabbed a 23-12 lead early on and went to the first break leading 30-15.
The Munich team couldn’t respond in the second period but fell even further after a 9-0 run of the hosts, who got a 23-point lead and ended the first half with a 53-32 advantage.
Bayern needed a miracle to overcome a big deficit, but soon after the break, it was obvious that the guests won’t pull it. Ludwigsburg took a 66-38 lead midway through the third quarter and finished it with a huge 77-55 lead.
Trinchieri’s team couldn’t even stop the bleeding; players of Ludwigsburg looked inspired to the last seconds and finally won with a big 28-point margin, handing Bayern Munich their fourth loss (11-4) and improving to 9-5.
Alba Berlin previously defeated Telekom Baskets Bonn and remained at the top of the standings.
