Veolia Towers Hamburg earned a convincing win, 89-70, against FC Bayern Munich on the road Tuesday.
James Woodard with 22 points paved the way for the visiting side in Audi Dome. He tucked in 5/8 from beyond the arc with Benka Barloschky’s player netting a total of 12/24. At the losing end, Andreas Obst recorded a team-high 15 points.
Both sides enjoyed a win in Germany’s easy Credit BBL over the weekend, but the Towers doubled up in Round 21 of the Regular Season. They improved to 8-13 and pushed the team coached by Andrea Trinchieri to 14-6.
Two days after defeating Niners Chemnitz, veteran center Othello Hunter (back) was cleared to return to action and logged seven points and five rebounds over 18 minutes. However, Isaac Bonga did not dress sitting out alongside Elias Harris (foot), Vladimir Lucic (elbow), Zan Mark Sisko (personal), Corey Walden (personal), and Cassius Winston (back).
ALBA notches 18th win
Building a double-digit lead in the second half to narrowly holding on down the stretch, ALBA Berlin defeated Hakro Merlins Crailsheim, 91-85, on the road later Tuesday.
Yanni Wetzell scored 19 points to match his individual high since moving his talents to Germany’s capital. The New Zealander big went 7/9 from the field and pulled down five rebounds. Tim Schneider and Jaleen Smith chipped in 17 points each.
Dealing with a shoulder injury, Tamir Blatt joined Marcus Eriksson (foot), Luke Sikma (thigh), and Maodo Lo (knee) on the injury list for the team coached by Israel Gonzalez.
For the hosts, guided by Nikola Markovic, Arunas Mikalauskas and James Batemon shared a team-high 18 points in the losing effort sinking their side to 7-13.

Switching from the league to the cup at the domestic level, Germany’s teams in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague based in Munich and Berlin will face each other in the Semifinals of the BBL-Pokal Final Four Saturday. The winner will advance to Sunday’s Final and take on host EWE Baskets Oldenburg or MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg.
