A convincing domestic win for FC Bayern Munich adds to the solid start under new head coach Pablo Laso

Three days after taking down domestic rival ALBA Berlin in the opening round of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Pablo Laso’s FC Bayern Munich improved to 2-1 in Germany’s easyCredit BBL.

Sitting out Carsen Edwards, Dino Radoncic, Vladimir Lucic, Niklas Wimberg, and Devin Booker, Bayern secured the home win, 90-79, versus Veolia Towers Hamburg on Sunday.

Sylvain Francisco went for 18 points in the Regular Season Round 3 contest. Andreas Obst and Serge Ibaka followed with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Nick Weiler-Babb had ten points, three steals, three rebounds, and two assists. Recovering from illness and logging his first appearance in the 2023-24 season, Niels Giffey chipped in five points, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal.

Falling into a double-digit hole before the end of the first half, the visitors did not recover and fell to 1-2. Cal Poly Pomona product William Christmas shared the game-high 18 points in the losing effort.

Among games held on Saturday, defending champion ratiopharm Ulm topped ALBA, 100-88. Both Ulm and Rasta Vechta are 3-0.
