A sloppy performance in the fourth quarter was far from impactful for FC Bayern Munich. Growing the lead to 24 points was enough to settle with an 81-62 victory against Bamberg Baskets on Saturday.
In the opening game of the Siegmund Top Four in Munich, Serge Ibaka registered team-highs of 15 points and nine rebounds for the defending BBL Pokal champions and hosts of the four-team tournament. Zach Copeland delivered a game-high 19 points but on the wrong end of a one-sided affair.
Despite rejoining team practices on Thursday, Devin Booker (ankle) was not cleared for game action. Among his available teammates, head coach Pablo Laso split playing time aiming to keep his side fresh for the championship game tomorrow.
Joining Bayern in the Final to decide the next BBL Pokal champion on Sunday, reigning league champion ratiopharm Ulm pulled away late in the fourth quarter to eliminate ALBA Berlin, 87-79. Banking in a 25-point, 12-rebound double-double, Trevion Williams stood out in the second Semifinal.
Italian imports Matteo Spagnolo and Gabriele Procida shared a team-high 14 points for the team coached by Israel Gonzalez. Returning to action after missing three months, Louis Olinde dished out two assists over three minutes. Ziga Samar and Khalifa Koumadje were out alongside Kresimir Nikic.
From recently moving to the Brooklyn Nets to the All-Star break creating space on the schedule of the NBA Regular Season, Dennis Schroder returned to Germany. He was in attendance at BMW Park.
