Bayern Munich stumbled on the road against Heidelberg, with ALBA Berlin and Chemnitz challenging for the top spot

The regular season in the German BBL is shaping up for an intriguing finale following Bayern Munich’s unexpected loss in Round 29.

Pablo Laso’s team suffered an 89-82 defeat on the road against Heidelberg, ending their five-game winning streak and missing the opportunity to maintain a one-game lead over Chemnitz with a 23-5 record. ALBA Berlin is also in contention with 22 wins and a game behind.

Elias Harris led Bayern Munich with 19 points, but only Leandro Bolmaro and Carsen Edwards reached double digits with 11 points each.

Jeffrey Carroll and Justin Jaworski guided Heidelberg to victory with 21 points each, while Elijah Childs and Isaiah Whaley contributed 10 points apiece.

ALBA Berlin shortens the gap

ALBA Berlin seized the chance to tighten the gap and defeated Bamberg 98-92 at home.

Tim Schneider had 25 points and nine rebounds for the winning side, while Kresimir Nikic added 18 with seven boards. Jonas Mattisseck followed with 12 points, while Justin Bean reached a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sterling Brown and Martin Hermannsson added 11 points each.

Zach Copeland stood out for Bamberg with 25 points, followed by Trey Woodbury with 13, E.J. Onu with 12, and Filip Stanic with 10.
