After their second EuroLeague win of the season, Bayern Munich suffered their second defeat in the German BBL.
Less than 48 hours after a win over Paris at the SAP Garden, Gordon Herbert’s side fell on the road in the domestic championship, 79-75, to Syntainics MBC.
Nick Weiler-Babb was on the verge of a triple-double with 19 points, eight assists, and three rebounds. Carsen Edwards added 13, Devin Booker scored 12 points, and Johannes Voigtmann had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. However, four strong performances weren’t enough.
On the other side, Ty Brewer led the hosts to a huge win with 22 points, while Tyren Johnson and Spencer Reaves each added 12 points, and Michael DeVoe finished the match with 10 points.
“We made the same mistakes”
Oscar da Silva shared his thoughts on the game.
“We didn’t show the necessary focus and didn’t bring the required energy to the court to win an away game against a team that had a whole week to prepare for us. I believe we had over 20 turnovers, and we made the same mistakes as in our previous losses. When you have four games in less than a week, you have to control things like turnovers and offensive rebounds – and we didn’t manage to do that today. Therefore, MBC deservedly won. Our roster is deep enough to withstand such a load, but today we simply didn’t show the necessary energy and concentration. MBC punished us for that.”
