Bayern collects eighth win in nine games, retains co-lead in BBL

With head coach Gordon Herbert out due to illness, FC Bayern Munich won, 93-73, against Telekom Baskets Bonn in BMW Park on Sunday.

Assistant T.J. Parker took over for Round 9 of Germany’s easyCredit BBL Regular Season, guiding his side to 6-2. It was the eighth win over the last nine games between the domestic league and the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

Combining for 11 three-pointers, Carsen Edwards and Andreas Obst stood out with 24 and 17 points, respectively. Preparing to debut with the Munich outfit, Onuralp Bitim was left out of the lineup alongside injured Niels Giffey and Vladimir Lucic.

Fellow EuroLeague participant, ALBA Berlin went down to 3-5 after an away loss, 96-93, to Rasta Vechta. Justin Bean, Martin Hermannsson, Will McDowell-White, and Matt Thomas remained unavailable for the team coached by Israel Gonzalez.

Elsewhere in the BBL, co-leader ratiopharm Ulm made short work of winless BG Gottingen, 109-70.

Setting his career-high at 39 points on Saturday, Justin Jaworski led EWE Baskets Oldenburg to an overtime win, 102-92, against the Skyliners.
