FC Bayern Munich pulled away in the second half to beat EWE Baskets Oldenburg, 89-75, in BMW Park and return to the top of the easyCredit BBL standings.
A home loss, 79-68, for MLP Academics Heidelberg against Bamberg Baskets paved the way for the Munich outfit to climb to first place by improving to 8-3 in Germany’s top-flight division on Sunday.
Experienced point guard Shabazz Napier and experienced forward Devin Booker registered 19 and 18 points, respectively. German sharpshooter Andreas Obst followed with 14 points. Oscar da Silva and Vladimir Lucic were out for the team coached by Gordon Herbert in Round 12 of the Regular Season.
Snapping a five-game losing streak in all competitions, ALBA Berlin blew out BG Gottingen, 109-83, and jumped to 4-6 in the domestic league. Seven players scored in double-digits, including Tim Schneider producing a team-high 17 points. Justin Bean and Gabriele Procida sat out.
Making noise on Saturday, Darius McGhee tucked in 12 three-pointers en route to 40 points as Telekom Baskets Bonn rocked Niners Chemnitz, 123-88.
