ALBA storms back to beat Bayern in domestic clash

ALBA Berlin took down FC Bayern Munich, 88-81, in Uber Arena on Sunday.

David McCormack scored 20 points, a new personal best in the 2024-25 campaign, fueling a win in Round 15 in Germany’s easyCredit BBL Regular Season. Matt Thomas followed with 17 points. Will McDowell-White put in 13 points, including four three-pointers and a dagger down the stretch.

Despite falling into a 19-point hole in the first half, the Albatrosse jumped to 5-8 in the domestic league. They came off four straight losing displays between the BBL and the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and nine defeats in the last ten games.

Devin Booker’s 20 points were not enough for Gordon Herbert’s side to avoid falling to 9-4. Vladimir Lucic (calf) and Nick Weiler-Babb (hand) remained sidelined. The hosts sat out Justin Bean (wrist), Martin Hermannsson (Achilles), and Louis Olinde (foot).

Preventing Basketball Lowen Braunschweig from joining the leaders, Telekom Baskets Bonn dominated the second half on the way to a 94-74 victory in Volkswagen Halle. The team coached by Roel Moors improved to 8-6.
