Climbing over a 30-point margin in the fourth period, FC Bayern Munich comfortably defeated MLP Academics Heidelberg, 89-57, on Sunday.
Experienced forwards Niels Giffey and Devin Booker shared a game-high 14 points in the Round 13 contest of Germany’s easyCredit BBL Regular Season. Explosive Carsen Edwards chipped in 13 more points, Johannes Voigtmann paired his nine points with eight rebounds and Elias Harris went for nine points, five rebounds, and three assists for the team coached by Gordon Herbert.
Recovering from a three-game losing streak across all competitions, including a domestic losing effort opposite ALBA Berlin last Sunday, the Munich outfit slid into a tie with ratiopharm Ulm at 10-4 on top of the standings and leaving the hosts at 9-5. Oscar da Silva (ankle), Vladimir Lucic (calf), and Nick Weiler-Babb (thumb) remained sidelined.
Playing a Round 16 affair later Sunday, ALBA defeated the Skyliners, 75-61, in Frankfurt. Pushing his side to 6-8, Matt Thomas recorded 25 points, a new personal best for the 2024-25 campaign. Besides Justin Bean (wrist) and Louis Olinde (foot), Matteo Spagnolo was also sidelined due to an injury. Recent signing Michael Kessens was unavailable as well.
In another Round 16 fixture of the BBL, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg rocked Bamberg Baskets, 92-73, and improved to 9-7. Ezra Manjon piled up 17 points, four rebounds, three steals, and three assists.
