MLP Academics Heidelberg defeated ALBA Berlin, 90-86, on Monday.
Recovering from an early nine-point deficit, the hosts jumped to 14-9 in the 2024-25 easyCredit BBL Regular Season and kept the Albatrosse outside of the playoff picture. DJ Horne stuffed the stat sheet with 21 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Fellow American import Ryan Mikesell followed with 20 points and five rebounds.
Coming in with seven wins in as many clashes in the head-to-head series since Heidelberg’s return to the top-tier division of Germany in 2021, the team coached by Pedro Calles failed to extend the streak and instead fell to 11-13 in the BBL, despite a season-high 29 points by Yanni Wetzell. Louis Olinde, Robert Baker II, and Matteo Spagnolo were ruled out for the Round 26 contest.
On Saturday, FC Bayern Munich climbed to 18-6 with an 81-75 victory versus FIT/One Wurzburg Baskets. Highlighting a balanced offensive display, consisting of five double-digit scorers, Niels Giffey netted 17 points.
Also, second-placed ratiopharm Ulm dropped to 17-8 after losing, 85-67, to Rostock Seawolves.
