Bayern Munich sweeped Brose Bamberg after the road win 71 – 63. The guests continue strong in the BBL after winning 19 of their 20 games in the competition while the defending champions fell to an 11-9 record.
Danilo Barthel paced the winners with 20 points and 8 boards. Jared Cunningham also contributed with 15 points. Daniel Hackett had 12 points (4-of-13 shooting) and 6 assists for the hosts.
Brose Bamberg had a breakout start against the German leaders and they took a 11 – 25 lead in the first. Bayern wasn’t going to give up that early and responded with a great defensive quarter. At the break, Andrea Trinchieri’s men were still up by 6 (29 – 35).
The visiting side took the lead with 3 minutes left in the third quarter (50 – 48) and the game remained close until the end. Bayern dominated the offensive boards in clutch time and escaped with a win in a slow fourth quarter.
Over the weekend, Alba Berlin continued its unbeaten streak with a victory in Jena with Luke Sikma leading the winners.
