Atlanta Hawks guard Dennis Schroder revealed that he aspires to become an owner of his hometown team Braunschweig, currently competing in the German BBL (First Division).
“We definitely want to take over a lot here and of course help financially, of course. I think I’ll buy the team so to also have a say as co-owner,” Schroder said during the German League game of Braunschweig against Gottingen, per Sport 1.
“We want to build a top-five team here in Germany. That’s my dream because I come from Braunschweig,” he added.
The international German player took advantage of the All-Star Game break to visit the place he was born and grew up in, plus attend a match of his hometown team. Following the game, a half-hour “Meet & Greet” autograph session took place and fans had a chance to take pictures with the Hawks star.
Schroder also mentioned that he wants to be present in the World Cup Qualifiers game of Germany against Austria, played in Braunschweig on June 29. “It would mean a lot to me,” he said.
