Bayern Munich managed to ward off Rasta Vechta’s comeback effort and record a 79-66 home win in Round 2 of German League on the way to a 2-0 start of the season.
The hosts kicked off the match better and were already ahead by a double-digit margin (18-7) halfway through the first quarter. Vechta tried to answer but Bayern eventually went on the halftime break with a 38-26 lead.
Despite Bayern starting the second half strong and increasing the lead to as much as 19 points (54-35), the guests made a surprising comeback. They closed the gap to only three points (69-66) with two minutes left but Vladimir Lucic and Danilo Barthel led Bayern’s 10-0 run which was, along with steel defense, enough to secure the win.
Barthel was in the game mood scoring 23 points while shooting 9/11 from the field. Devin Booker added 15 and Maodo Lo helped with ten points. On the other side, Austin Hollins scored 12 in addition to Joshua Young’s 11 points.
