Anadolu Efes and CSKA Moscow suffered major blows to their front lines after the injuries of Stanko Barac and Zoran Erceg respectively, as the “big man’s curse” in this Euroleague season continues…

Anadolu Efes and CSKA Moscow are still unbeaten in Euroleague this season, but now they have to face two major problems and maybe even add some players, at least temporary, in their rosters.

In Turkey, Croatian center Stanko Barac injured his elbow during practice and will be out of action for a month. The solution for coach Oktay Mahmuti was the activation of Uruguayan center Esteban Batista, who has a contract with the team, but was in the process of being released.

In Moscow, Serbian forward Zoran Erceg (photo) was injured during Saturday’s practice and the final diagnosis was righ soleus muscle injury and Achlles tendon tear. He will need surgery and he will miss the next four months.

There seems to be a… big man’s curse this season around Euroleague. Already Siena signed Austrian center Benjamin Ortner in order to replace Benjamin Eze who had arthroscopic surgery in his knee, Caja Laboral is also checking the market because center Tibor Pleiss still trying to return in action after suffering with mononucleosis and his back up, Milko Bjelica, has a knee injury and Zalgiris Kaunas’ center Robertas Javtokas is missing the entire season due to a stress fracture.
