The locker room of Olympiacos was full of reporters after Thursday’s defeat by Zalgiris Kaunas, when Joey Dorsey told loudly to Acie Law: “By God, that was my last game in Greece. I am out”.
Almost one hour later in order for anyone to know, Dorsey posted on his facebook page his frustration about his role in the team and that he doesn’t quit, but he is on the verge of leaving Olympiacos in order to continue his career in the NBA. That was not the end of it, as Dorsey was absent without an excuse on Friday’s afternoon practice.
Anyone can understand that his days at Piraeus are about to end. However, he still has a two year contract with the team (with a 150.000 dollars buy out for the summer of 2013) and until now his agents and Olympiacos haven’t met in order to reach an agreement for his more than possible exit. That’s the only way out from this awkward situation for every body involved and two players who were cut by NBA teams are already offered to the Reds in order to be his replacement, Ike Diogu and Troy Murphy.
Still, Olympiacos will probably take his time in order to find the right player for its front line and wants to secure the signing of Dionte Christmas as soon as possible, something that will not be easy. Siena already made an offer to the former Celtic and also a team from Russia playing in Euroleague – that means CSKA or most probably Khimki – is interested.
