Josh Powell is the replacement of Joey Dorsey at the roster of Olympiacos and he is expected to debut next week against Milano. So, here are the terms of his deal and also the endgame with Dorsey

Olympiacos signed Josh Powell and the American forward/center is expected to make his debut with the team next week in the game against EA7 Armani Milano. The two times NBA champion as a member of the Lakers (2009, 2010) was cut on the 26th of October by San Antonio Spurs.

That happend just one day after the outburst of Joey Dorsey after the game between Olympiacos and Zalgiris Kaunas. The behavior of Joey costs him his job in Greece. Olympiacos chose to sign Powell hoping that he can provide rebounding, a decent low post offensive threat and also because in Europe he can be used both at the “4” and “5” position, giving the opportunity to coach Giorgos Bartzokas to experiment with a more versatile front line, interchanging the roles of Powell, Hines, Antic and Printezis.

The 29 years old American signed a two years deal, but there is a less than $100.000 kick out option which can be used by Olympiacos in the summer of 2013 and to be exact by the middle of July. His monthly salary is about $30.000 until the end of the season and that means eight months from November till the end of June.

Still, the case of Joey Dorsey is still open and the information gathered by Eurohoops leads to two different scenarios. Olympiacos can simply release the player without pay – because he violated the internal code of conduct which is included in his contract – or punish him with suspending his contract and keeping his letter of clearance.
