Jaka Lakovic and Galatasaray seem to be ready to part ways as the veteran Slovenian guard is the favorite to replace Patrick Beverley in Spartak, who will be announced as the new member of Houston Rockets in the following days

Thursday was a busy day in Istanbul. The representatives of Jaka Lakovic were in town in order to arrange his release from Galatasaray. The deal between the player and the Turkish team seems to be done and the Slovenian guard is expected continue his career in Spartak St. Petersburg as it was the wish of the Russian club’s coach Jure Zdovc. However there is also the option of Donald Sloan if something goes wrong.

In the meantime, the Russian basketball federation has to send to Houston Pat Beverley’s letter of clearance. That’s the only detail left and it’s only a bureaucratic formality. As Eurohoops have reported, Beverley (photo) will belong to Houston until the summer of 2015, however it’s possible that he will start his career as a Rocket by being send to NBADL’s Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
