Carlos Arroyo was already practicing with Galatasaray the past two days and finally the team announced his signing. After winning the Turkish championship as a member of Besiktas last June, Arroyo returns to the country, where he shined last season.
According to the Turkish league rules his new team, Galata, had to pay Besiktas in order to receive the player’s letter of clearence and the price after long negotiations was 420.000 US dollars. As Galatasaray announced the contract of the veteran Puerto Rican point guard has a renewal option for next season.
Arroyo wasn’t the only former NBA player who returned to Europe this week. Big man Kyrylo Fesenko returned to BC Donetsk in his native Ukraine after five seasons in the USA.
