Twelve months after Benetton family announced that they want out of Treviso’s basketball and volleyball club; a new investor came to town. And he is much more than… simply somebody.
The team which dominated in Italian basketball from ’90s until mid ’00s changes hands. The primary goal of Pro Gest Company is to lead again Treviso to the path of success. The agreement was announced in a press conference, in which the new owners presented the next chapter of the historic team. And the new boss will be Bruno Zago, the paper merchant mogul who will take part to this new project.
The man who was responsible to make possible the transition to this new era is Claudio Coldebella, who -of course- will play a big part to the new administration. The former basketball player said: “We believe that Bruno Zago and Pro Gest will be the reference point for other companies, which already have been in contact with us and they want to be part of this commendable project, to rescue and revive basketball in Treviso. I hope that we will be ready very soon to announce the structure of this new company, which will be led by Pro Gest Company and will be assisted by a consortium of companies”.
If you try to evaluate this really ambitious plan, you can bet that Treviso will be back on track soon. The only question that remains to be answered is what would be the “cornerstone” to this new era. Will they chose to invest in new blood and in time to build something healthy from the ground or will they be aggressive in the market in order to claim the Italian top from Montepaschi Siena and Emporio Armani Milan, right away? Be patient and really soon we will have the answer on the court.
