The 30 years old American guard Doron Perkins is the player who will fill the void of injured Vaggelis Mantzaris in the roster of Olympiacos. The defending champions approached among others Jeremy Pargo, Shelvin Mack, Chris Quin and Walter Hodge, but for various reasons they didn’t end up in Greece.

Olympiacos had to sign a player until Tuesday, in order for him to be eligible in Euroleague and the transaction was officially announced on Monday (18/2). Doron Perkins’ season in Chinese CBA with the team named Foshan ended on Sunday and he was a free agent.

After Germany, Israel, Italy, Ukraine and China, Perkins will play basketball also in Greece as a member of the Reds. Due to his presence, Lithuanian guard Martinas Gecevicius is expected to lose his roster spot in the Greek league because of the six foreigners restriction, but he could be still used in Euroleague.

Olympiacos will have the right to make one more change in his Greek league roster till the end of the regular season. The deal with Perkins will be activated typically after he passes the medical exams by his new team.
