Euroleague announced on Friday the penalty imposed by its disciplinary judge to Zalgiris Kaunas and the sanction was the best case scenario for the Lithuanian club. Zalgiris will have to pay a fine of 25.000 euros because of the incident against Rudy Fernandez, as the judge also considered the prior good behavior of the club since “Zalgiris Kaunas has not been sanctioned for similar facts in the course of the current season” and also “the incident was an isolated action committed by brothers”, as it’s mentioned in the official press release.

However, Euroleague has decided to ban for life the brothers Nauris and Normunds Macius from Euroleague and Eurocup games and will also try to impose the ban in other competitions in communication with other basketball authorities, recommending “that the aggressors are banned from all basketball events, including club and national-team games”.
