In the morning before the big game against CSKA Moscow, Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos gave an interview to Sentra 103.3 radio station and talk almost about everything. Eurohoops provides you with the highlights of his interview, starting with the possibility of a match up against Olympiacos in Euroleague play offs.
As he said: “The game against Olympiacos have always a special interest. I wish we can beat CSKA and providing the other results favors us, face them having the home court advantage. But even if we don’t have the advantage, we don’t care. We will be glad to play against Olympiacos. However no matter who is the opponent, them or Barcelona, we have proved this season and in the past that we are not afraid of anyone”.
He was asked about the way Jason Kapono was released by the team: “He didn’t have the proper attitude towards the club. He had a big NBA career and he didn’t like the conditions in the team and his minutes. Panathinaikos is above individuals and coach Pedoulakis did the right thing by letting him go”.
He also added that the team will travel to China in order to boost its revenues: “We will tour China in order to get some endorsements. We also still thing about signing a Chinese player next season”.
As for his infamous press conference about leaving the team, he admitted: “It was just a reaction of the moment. It was something spontaneous, I could have handle things differently”.
