With two Games 5 being played this week, Eurohoops had to dig into the last 22 years of European basketball history in order to find out what are the real chances of Panathinaikos and Anandolu Efes for an upset

It’s easy to write the obvious. Never a guest team have prevailed in the Game 5 of Euroleague play offs (including the first Euroleague finals which were played in this format). However, that not enough.

As Panathinaikos and Anadolu Efes embark to Barcelona and Piraeus we wanted to know if they have a fighting chance and for sure they have. We just had to look back at the last 22 years of European basketball to find it. So here is what happened in every Game 3 in best of three format and in every Game 5 since the season 1991-92.

In a total of 57 play offs series which were decided in their last game, the home teams prevailed 41 times and the guests 16 times.
