After flirting with many European coaches, for example Greek Elias Zouros and Croatian Neven Spahija, Panagiotis Giannakis will be the new boss of the Chinese national team. The experienced Greek who is sitting on the bench of French club Limoges this season, has been the coach of the Greek national team, which he led in the 2005 Eurobasket trophy and in the second place of next year’s Mundobasket after beating team USA in the semifinal.

The news agency Sina confirmed the news, the contract is signed by both sides for the next three season and the only thing left for the official announcement is the approval of the state’s general administration of sports.

It’s a match made in heaven if you consider the fact that Giannakis was nicknamed by the Greek press as “Dragon” during his playing days, because of his passion on the court and he was described as “breathing fire” on his opponents.
