As it was expected after missing the semifinals of Liga Endesa, Laboral Kutxa decided to part ways with coach Zan Tabak by not picking the option to renew his contract for next season. Tabak was signed in November in order to replace Dusko Ivanovic, but ultimately couldn’t reach any of his team’s goals.
The race is on for the new coach and two names seem to have equal chances at this point. Spaniard Sito Alonso and Slovenian Jure Zdovc (photo) – as it was reported first by Sportando – can get the job , however nothing yet is clear about the direction the team wants to take.
The former coach of Spartak Saint Petersburg was contacted by the Basques and their talks are still at a very early stage, but the same applies to the contacts he has with Cantu. It’s not a secret that coach Andrea Trinchieri is about to conclude his circle with the Italian club and Zdovc is the team’s top choice.
