Joan Plaza decided to stay in Kaunas throughout the season, despite the financial problems of his team, but now it was time to say goodbye in an emotional press conference. As he said:“I want to thank everyone and specially my players. Many people told me that I was crazy to come here. I believe that I became a better coach and a better person”.
Coach Plaza denied that he has already sign with Unicaja Malaga for next season. “I will announce my decision this week”, he said, however the details of his – more than possible – future in the Spanish club are known.
One of the most important players of the team during the recent years, Croatian guard Marko Popovic, has also announced that he is leaving and the Euroleague club has the very hard work to build a respectable team for next season with a budget that is expected to be around one million euros.
