Laboral Kutxa announced that the new coach of the team with a two years deal is Sergio Scariolo, an unexpected decision after the bad season of the Italian coach in EA7 Armani Milano. However, the former Spanish NT coach still has a respectable reputation in the Iberian peninsula and he returns to his first team in Spain. Back in 1998 he had led them to the Spanish league finals and also won the Spanish cup in 1999.
The other two main candidates for the job are also already thinking next season. Sito Alonso is staying, at least for the time being, in Lagun Aro, hoping that the team will continue playing in Liga Endesa and Jure Zdovc is advance talks with Cantu, in order to replace Andrea Trinchieri who is expected to leave the team.
