It was the end of an era literally for Panathinaikos, but also the glorious start of a new one. Kostas Tsarsaris (photo) retired from the courts after a long career with the Greens, having won three Euroleague titles and a total of 18 domestic titles. As he said: “Panathinaikos will always be my family”.
However, the biggest star of the champions, Dimitris Diamantidis, will continue playing and he is expected soon to announce his new deal with Panathinaikos, despite being a free agent. After all he took himself out of the market, essentially since Ferbuary in a very clear way.
Also, three more Greek players are expected to added officially the next days to the team roster. Antonis Fotsis returns from EA7 Armani Milano, Vlado Jankovic is leaving Panionios for the Greens and Nikos Pappas is expected to do the same. Panathinaikos needed players in order to build a Greek core in the roster and those additions are automatic upgrades.
