The season ended and Panionios’ coach Giannis Sfairopoulos met the Press upon dinner and spoke about this year and also about things to come. Despite losing Nikos Pappas and Vladimir Jankovic to Panathinaikos – both of them being free agents – Panionios is thinking big about next season.

After being for two years in a row the third best team in Greece behind Panathinaikos and Olympiacos, Panionios wants under Sfairopoulos, the former assistant of coach Jonas Kazlauskas in CSKA Moscow, to make a splash in the new Eurocup.

As the coach said: “It’s something that has a real value to us. We want to be again a relevant team in Europe and the way to do so it to get results in Eurocup. We expect a tough competitions, specially because of the new format, but we want to be in Last32 and then do the best we can”. In order to do this, the team has first of all to settle some older debts that have put them under a ban of transfers by BAT and, as Sfairopoulos confirmed, the issue will be solved in the next days.
