Panathinaikos informed officially Sofoklis Schortsanitis that the extension option in his contract wasn’t used by the team and now the Greek center is officially one the market. That doesn’t apply to Nick Calathes who is expected to stay in Lokomotiv Kuban

Today was the last day that Panathinaikos had the right to use the option and renew Sofoklis Schortsanitis’ contract for next season, but this didn’t happen. The team informed the Greek player that he was released and now he is on the search for the next stop in his career. There’s already interest for him by some clubs, his former team, Maccabi Tel Aviv, was also asking about him and it remains to be seen which offers Sofo will get.

That’s not the only news concerning Panathinaikos. Despite what Greek sources stated about Nick Calathes wanting to leave Krasnodar and the wish of the Greens to get him back, the player will stay a member of Lokomotiv Kuban and will extend his contract by taking the offer he has on the table.
