The Teodosic facts

By Aris Barkas/ barkas@eurohoops.net

It was a crazy Saturday night from Istanbul to Moscow with a lot of denials, but also some interesting leaks for the long rumored Fenerbahce/ Ulker’s interest for Milos Teodosic since the time Dusan Ivkovic was presented as the front runner for the coaching job.

According to the latest informations from Turkey and as it was reported by Hurriyet and by Turbasket on twitter, there is a pre-agreement between Fener and Milos Teodosic for a two years contract. The deal is not confirmed yet by the side of the player and there is a reason for that. It seems that CSKA Moscow hasn’t been an active part of the talks and in order for the deal to be completed, the Russian powerhouse must release Teodosic. Of course, CSKA would like to get some kind of compensation for one of the top point guards in Europe and that’s why Fenerbahce/ Ulker came up with the idea of “trading” Bo McCalebb for Teodosic.

CSKA doesn’t seem interested in such a deal, so Fenerbahce/ Ulker would have to pay a buy out. As for McCalebb, he will remain until further notice with the Turkish team. There are rumors about a strong interest towards him by EA7 Milano, but that remains to be seen.

It’s not a secret that CSKA was thinking since the last Final Four about parting ways with Teodosic and that’s what makes Fenerbahce optimistic about the immediate conclusion of the deal. The ideal scenario for the Turkish club will be to announce the signing of Teodosic on Monday, during the presentation of the Linas Kleiza, Luka Zoric and Nemanja Bjelica.

UPDATE: The official reaction of CSKA Moscow via its press office on Sunday afternoon was the following: “Teodosic is under contract until 2014. Any information on CSKA players can be considered official only after publishing on the official website. Any other information is just rumors and the club is not commenting on rumors under team policy”.
