Olympiacos surprised everyone as the Euroleague champions preferred Matt Lojeski, over Malik Hairston and Cartier Martin for the starting small forward position. Lojeski may have won 2 straight titles with Oostende in Belgium, but lacks Euroleague experience.
“Matt is able to become a key player for Olympiacos”, was the crystal clear opinion of Tony Van Den Bosch. The former player and head coach of National team of Belgium, now serves as a commentator for Belgian TV station sporting telenet and clearly approves the move by Olympiacos. “He is a small forward with an excellent jumpshot and drive. Also he is very athletic player and although he looks skinny, he is actually strong”.
Besides an excellent scorer and a reliable shooter, Van Den Bosch noted two other facets of the game that Lojesky possesses. “He is also a good passer and defender. He has stopped players like Jaycee Carroll of Real and other top level players . Matt will play for the national team and we’re very happy about that”.
