It was the middle of July when it got clear that one of the most wanted free agents, in the NBA, Nikola Pekovic would stay at Minnesota. It was also a fact he will get a much more improved contract. Money was the thing that had the two sides discussing for 44 days, before they reach an agreement.
And today was the day of the handshakes! Nikola Pekovic will get 60 mil dollars for a 5-year contract and the truth to be told he compromised with 15 mil dollars less from what he was asking for. But there are always the bonuses to make his salary bigger up to 8 mil dollars.
The Montenegrin center will fly today for Minnesota and tomorrow (16/5) he will get his physicals, before he will be presented by the Wolves. The thing is that for one week he missed the chance to play for his country, at Eurobasket, since it was a huge risk to be a national player without having a contract.
