Marcus Williams is Nick Calathes’ successor in Lokomotiv Kuban. The American guard signed for 1+1 years with the Eurocup winners and he will continue his career in Europe and the Euroleague. Eurohoops has first reported the flirt of the 28 years old player with the Russian team. Kuban had searched the market before even Nick Calathes agreed officially to play in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies.

After Calathes’ departure and the ongoing mess with Ohayon (the legal battle between Kuban and Maccabi hasn’t ended yet), the team needed a starter point guard and eventually Evgeniy Pashutin’s chosen was Williams who returns to Russia, where he played with Enisey in the 2010-11 season. Williams didn’t want to stay in Malaga, tried to find out his chances for a return in the NBA without result and eventually he will play in the ambitious club in Kuban with more than 30% raise of his salary in comparison with his contract in Spain.

In Eurocup, Zaragoza signed for the next three years Pere Tomas who comes from Badalona.
