After the injury of Cedric Simmons in the Euroleague game against Siena, Olympiacos decided to boost its front line by signing a Greek center. Vasilis Kavvadas from Panionios is expected to sign a long term contract with the Euroleague back to back champions. The Reds couldn’t find a better alternative for what they wanted in the market and the team can’t be helped by also injured Greek center Dimitris Mavroeidis who is out of the rotation.
However, the hottest rumor in Europe is that Daniel Hackett is for sale if Siena misses Euroleague Top16. A lot of teams are mentioned as possible destinations, however according to sources from Turkey at this point only Fenerbahce/ Ulker has shown some kind of interest, despite the official denials of the club.
Still, no one is going to pay an inflated buy out which Siena demands while offering the player, considering the fact that Hackett is going to be a free agent in the summer and according to sources close to the situation his priority until recently was to take a shot in the NBA.
