Just minutes before the start of the Euroleague game between Olympiacos and Galatasaray, the Euroleague champions officially announced the signing of Greek center Vassilis Kavvadas. The player was released by Panionios “under mutual consent” according to a press release by his former team and signed a five years deal with the Reds.
Olympiacos tried to get Kavvadas two summers ago, couldn’t reach a deal with Panionios at that time, but the player would be a free agent after the end of this season. That’s why Panionios decided to sell him now and not lose him for free.
