One day after the disqualification of Siena from Euroleague’s Top16, Daniel Hackett is ready to leave the team and continue his career at EA7 Milano. It’s the same road traveled during the summer by coach Banchi and David Moss. The financial issues of the Italian champions made it impossible for the team to keep him and Hackett’s buy out – reportedly around 500.000 euros – is an important injection of cash flow to the club.
The long term target of Hackett remains to try his chance during the upcoming summer in the NBA, however his focus now is to win the Italian league like he did last spring and of course get as far as he can in Euroleague. After all Milan is hosting this year’s Final Four and the addition of Hackett can help the team of the city become even more competitive in the highest level.
As he said after the defeat by Unicaja on the day of his birthday almost in tears, “I have given everything to this team and I love everyone involved with the team”. The transaction is expected to be finished in the following hours and will be confirmed officially.
