Monday was a bad news day both for Maccabi Tel Aviv and CSKA Moscow. As it was officially announced Shawn James and Sonny Weems are battling injuries. To be exact the center of the Israelis may miss the rest of the season.

The 30 years player has already missed four of the last eight games of Maccabi Tel Aviv, an MRI revealed a ruptured disk and a back specialist on Monday recommended surgery. If he proceeds with the surgery, then he will not be able to play again until the rest of the season, a huge blow to Maccabi’s ambition.

Back problems is also the reason of concern for Weems who missed the last two games of CSKA against Real Madrid and Khimki. The American forward faced a similar condition back in the 2010-11 when he was playing for the Toronto Raptors. The Russian club decided to send him to Austin Texas, where “he will undergo tests and therapy in Muscle Activation Clinic, where the specialists helped him three years ago”.

Also, Unicaja‘s Earl Calloway will miss the next 3-4 weeks, as it was announced by the team on Sunday night. The player hurt his ankle during the game against for Liga Endesa against Real Madrid.
