In an unusual turn of events, Zalgiris Kaunas decided to part ways with Ksistof Lavrinovic who will continue his career in Spain as a member of Valencia. The Spanish club after a series of injuries in the front line, as both Pablo Aguilar and Sergei Lishchuk have problems, needed an experience presence and finally got it.

The unusual part of the move is that it missed the Eurocup deadline, despite the fact that Valencia was searching the market for a long time, so Lavrinovic will have the right to play only in Liga Endesa, where his new team is currently second in the standings.

And there is more. As Eurohoops reported earlier in the season, Martynas Pocius had an opt out option in his contract in case Zalgiris missed Euroleague’s Top16. It appears that this kind of opt out clause were included also in other big name players’ contract and it’s safe to assume that Zalgiris didn’t get any kind of buy out from the transfer of Lavrinovic.
