In 10 season of monthly MVP awards in Euroleague, never before has the same player won the award even twice in the same season, let alone back-to-back. However Februay MVP Ante Tomic of Barcelona did just that by winning the title also on March.
It’s an impressive feat for a dominant player who is spearheading the revenge of the old school centers in Euroleague. Barcelona is still unbeaten in Top16 and Tomic in the last six weeks is tied for the third-best average (26.67 ranking) in Top 16 history behind only Mirsad Turkcan, tied with Alphonso Ford and just ahead of Arvydas Sabonis.
In the last month he has a prorated average index rating of 38.5 over 40 minutes, his team already secured the top spot in Group E, has the home court advantage in the play offs and it will be a surprise not see the Catalans in the Final Four, as Tomic is one of the top candidates for the season MVP award.
