Italian coach Andrea Trinchieri who has led Unics Kazan in the Eurocup final won the competition’s coach of the year award for the 2013-14 season. During his first season with the team, Unics can be proud for the best defense in Eurocup’s history (64.4 ppg allowed) and also a record 13 games winning streak.

Since his days in Cantu, which he led to Euroleague, Trinchieri is considered one of the most talented young coaches  in Europe. Born in 1967 he has a long career ahead of him, which already included his first experience as a national team head coach. However, despite having a contract with the Greek national team, his future with the team is more than uncertain. Coincidentally, the favorite to replace him is last season Eurocup’s coach of the year, Greek Fotis Katsikaris.
