In what was probably not the worst case scenario, Sofoklis Shortsanitis was punished by the Israeli league with a seven games suspension and also a 18.500 US dollars fine. That’s his penalty for the incident against fans of Hapoel Tel Aviv.
That was the decision after the hearing of the 24th of April, during which Maccabi‘s president Simon Mizrahi acted also as his lawyer. Assuming that Maccabi will beat Hapoel Galil 3-0 in the first round of the playoffs, the Greek center will be back for Game 3 of the semifinals, because he has already missed the last two regular season games of his team. Of course, he will be available for the upcoming Euroleague Final Four.
