Despite the interest for Lithuanian coach Jonas Kazlauskas, Lokomotiv Kuban decided to hire a Russian coach in order to replace Pashutin. As the team announced Sergey Bazarevich signed a three years contract. His goal will be to combine immediate results and the development of local talent.
Bazarevich had to opt out from his contract with Samara in order to get the job at Kuban. The club is also hoping to get a wildcard for the upcoming Euroleague It remains to be seen if Lokomotiv will get the ticket for next season’s top European competition, a fact which will be a major factor for the possible summer additions.
