It’s not official yet, but it’s almost announced by Adriatic league CEO Roman Lisac in Serbian radio station B92. It’s not a secret that Cibona is facing financial difficulties, the Croatian club will not play in Euroleague and Crvena Zvezda is expected take its position.
Cibona Zagreb has won the Adriatic league and a Euroleague B license for next season, but the team, which is expected also to lose its leader and big name draft prospect Dario Saric, can’t afford to be part of the top European league. Crvena Zvezda initially had won the right to play in Euroleague’s qualifying round as the third best team in Adriatic league and now its arch-rival Partizan is also epxected to fill the empty spot in the qualifiers.
As for Croatia, it will be represented in Euroleague by Cedevita, the finalist of Adriatic league, which is also based in Zagreb. Cedevita already announced its first addition for next season, former Partizan guard Nemanja Gordic.
