A day of goodbyes

The season is ending and two emblematic players from two great basketball countries said goodbye to the courts. Lithuanian Ramunas Siskauskas and Croatian Damir Mulaomerovic are calling it a day. For “Mula” that seems expected, after all he is 38 years old, but the decision of “Siska” is kind of shock since he is not even 34 years old.

The career of the Lithuanian guard is more than illustrious. He has won a bronze Olympic medal on 2000, a gold (2003) and a bronze (2007) Eurobasket medal, two times the Euroleague and championships in Lithuania (as a player of Lietuvos Rytas), Italy (Benetton Treviso), Greece (Panathinaikos) and Russia (CSKA Moscow). Mulaomerovic has a more modest trophy case with championships and cups in Croatia (Cibona, KK Zagreb), one Italian Supercup (Fortitudo Bologna) and one Turkish cup (Efes Pilsen), but also a Euroleague with Panathinaikos in 2002. That’s what connects him with Siskauskas, a Euroleague winner in 2007, wearing also the Green jersey.
