One day before the Euroleague draw, the Euroleague Commercial Assets Shareholders Meeting was held in Barcelona. The owners of the Euroleague teams approved the new licencing system which will be quite different.
These are the teams that will take place in the Euroleague this season.
There will be a transitional period until the changes will take full effect. As Mundo Deportivo revealed first, there will be changes in the current club licensing rules and a limit to A licenses from any one country to three. B licenses will be fixed at two for the Adriatic League and one for France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russian Federation, Spain and Turkey. One wild card per season will be granted and the Eurocup champion will continue to receive a one year C license.
At the end of the 2014-15 season, existing A Licence clubs will be reviewed and all those that continue to meet the same criteria used in summer 2009 to allocate the licences will be automatically renewed, taking into account the new per-country limitation of three teams.
The team that will be affected more by this changes will be Unicaja Malaga which is expected to lose its A licence due to the three teams per country limit.
