Coach Saras to Zalgiris Kaunas

Sarunas Jasikevicius is ready to start his career as coach as he has been planning for a long team. The Lithuanian legend retired from basketball as a player and he is going to be an assistant in Zalgiris Kaunas next to head coach Gintaras Krapikas.

Saras played in the highest level of the European basketball until his 38 years of age and last season was a member of Zalgiris. He has been offered again to retire and be a coach (Panathinaikos tried to lure him two years ago), but this time he said “yes” in his home country, as a verbal agreement has been reached.

During his long career, Jasikevicius won Eurobasket 2003 as the MVP of a spectacular Lithuanian national team, was Euroleague champion four times (2003, 2004, 2005, 2009), 2005 final four MVP and also Spanish, Greek, Israeli, Lithuanian, Turkish league champion as a member of Barcelona, Panathinaikos, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Zalgiris Kaunas and Fenerbahce/ Ulker. In the NBA he played for the Pacers and the Warriors. He won also the bronze Olympic medal in Sidney 2000.
